Marc Hurwitz is co-founder and Chief Insight Officer of FliP University and FliPskills, providing professional services and online training around Followership, leadership, innovation, & Partnerships (FliP).He is also Associate Director, Undergraduate and Non-degree Programs at the Conrad School of Business and Entrepreneurship, University of Waterloo.
Marc holds a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, an MBA, Masters degrees in physics and mathematics, and combines that with many years of corporate, executive and entrepreneurial experience in diverse areas including marketing, finance, training and development, HR, and a brief stint as an actuary.
He chaired the first Global Followership Conference in 2019; co-authored the best seller, "Leadership is half the story: A fresh look at followership, leadership, and collaboration" (University of Toronto Press, Toronto:Canada, 2015); co-edited the book, "Followership in action" (Emerald Publishing, 2016); and is currently co-editing a volume in the New Directions in Student Leadership series on followership. He is also the past chair of the Followership Learning Community at ILA and co-manages the followership LinkedIn group.
On a personal note, Marc is active in the arts community as a performer and director of musical theatre as well as being a performance poet and pinball player.
