Event Description

We welcome leadership educators to join this crucial conversation at the 2018 National Leadership Symposium (NLS). In its 28th year, NLS is an intensive, interactive, and intimate opportunity to connect with noted scholars and practitioners around current topics in leadership. The 2018 theme, "Leadership and democratic engagement: The role we play and messages we send," is a critical, reflective, and practical examination of the intersection of leadership education and democratic practice. Participants should come prepared to invest in the community we build, in the dialogue we have, and in the critical self-reflection we support one another in.

The Symposium includes a variety of formats, exercises, and conversations to engage different learning styles and preferences. Given the immersive learning environment of the Symposium, it is advised that participants have significant professional experience in leadership education. In order to fully engage in the learner community, participants are expected to have read several selected readings in advance of the arriving for the NLS experience. The National Leadership Symposium is designed for an intimate collegial learning environment of 50 participants. Participants engage in intense periods of learning in large community, small group, and individual levels.
