There are numerous ways to connect with ILA’s Women and Leadership Affinity Group (WLAG) at the global conference in West Palm Beach next week. Over 1,000 members strong internationally, the WLAG provides information, resources, publishing, and networking opportunities for scholars who study and conduct research on the subject of women and leadership, leadership educators, practitioners who offer development and coaching programs and services for current or aspiring women leaders, and those practicing or aspiring to practice leadership.

Current and potential members can find us at the member community information tables from 16:45 – 18:15 on Thursday the 25th of October. We’ll be the ones pinning on purple ribbons to represent support for leadership diversity. We invite everyone to join us and wear purple clothing or accessories on Friday to show support for women and leadership. Pack your purple! At our table, meet members of the executive leadership team and learn more about the WLAG and upcoming WLAG events such as the 4th Women and Leadership conference taking place next June. Note also that conference sessions and presentations that self-identified as pertaining to women and leadership are marked in the program book with a grey WL icon to the left of the title.

If you are an ILA member, but not part of the WLAG, it’s easy to join (see instructions below). ILA WLAG members are included in our ILA Intersections online community and announcement list. You will always be “in the know” about the latest happenings and opportunities related to scholarship and practice pertaining to women and leadership.

To join ILA’s Women and Leadership Affinity Group: log in to this profile update form, scroll down and "Edit Your ILA Member Community Settings." Make sure to click Submit at the bottom of the page in order to save your changes.

You certainly won’t want to miss the 9th annual Women and Leadership Networking Luncheon from 13:15–14:30 on Friday the 26th of October. Join WLAG members and potential members as they hear thoughts from renowned scholar Alice Eagly, whose research on gender and leadership has decisively shaped the understanding, dialogue, and practice related to women and leadership. Participants also network during table talks, learn updates on WLAG initiatives, and share exceptional conversation and collegiality. The luncheon draws scholars, educators, and practitioners who are interested in discussing possibilities for future collaboration around the topic of women and leadership. More broadly, participants may be those who are interested in acquiring, studying, and exemplifying leadership skills. The event this year is sponsored by Magnetrol International, Inc. There’s still time to purchase your tickets online via the global conference registration site form, but don’t wait because the event can sell out! The luncheon is famous not only for its collegiality and networking, but also for the women and leadership book raffle! If you have a recent book, you'd like to contribute to the raffle, please bring it to lunch!

To find out more about the WLAG, access our page on the ILA site. While on the site, check out the link for information about the book series, Women & Leadership: Research, Theory, and Practice, with seven published volumes. This cross-disciplinary series draws from current research findings, development practices, pedagogy, and lived experience to deliver provocative thinking that enhances leadership knowledge and improves leadership development of women around the world. And, you can purchase volumes at a discount with your ILA membership ! Also on our site is a link to the Asilomar Declaration and Call to Action on Women and Leadership published in August 2015. The Declaration “is a guide for individual women, women’s networks, and other stakeholders and organizations that actively campaign for enhancing women’s leadership status worldwide. The document is designed to inspire both its authors and readers to take action in multiple ways to make leadership equality a reality.”

We are currently accepting nominations for the WLAG Executive Leadership Team. Or, if you would like to get involved, but you’re not interested in a formal position, we welcome volunteers to help with various initiatives throughout the year including the upcoming 4th Women and Leadership conference (CFP Deadline: 15 November 2018)

If you can’t find what you need on our site, or if you have additional questions, contact the WLAG leaders at womensleadership@ila-net.com, and find us on Facebook and on LinkedIn.

The WLAG welcomes you to our community. We look forward to reconnecting next week in West Palm Beach!
