Dear ILA Followership Community Members,
The next ILA Followership Community Watercooler has been postponed until July 16. Don't miss this meeting with a very special conversation with Ira Chaleff. It will be just after the Global Followership Conference at Claremont McKenna College. Ira will share his reflections on how far we have come since the first Global Followership Conference he helped organize at Claremont in 2006 - which will be nearly 20 years onward.
Ira Chaleff is a leading voice in followership and ethical leadership, most recently authoring To Stop a Tyrant: The Power of Political Followers to Make Good Leaders and Brake Bad Ones, which explores the critical role individuals play in resisting authoritarianism and standing up to unethical power. His work highlights the necessity of moral courage, particularly in moments when speaking out or taking action is difficult but essential.
Chaleff is also widely known for The Courageous Follower: Standing Up to and for Our Leaders, a seminal book that redefined followership as an active, responsible, and ethical role. His research emphasizes that followers are not passive participants but key players in shaping leadership integrity, advocating for accountability, and preventing abuses of power.
As a co-editor of The Art of Followership, alongside Ron Riggio and Jean Lipman-Blumen, Chaleff has helped elevate the study of followership as an essential counterpart to leadership. Through his writing, consulting, and speaking, he continues to inspire individuals and organizations to develop cultures of ethical followership, ensuring that both leaders and followers work together to create just and effective systems.
Please be sure to join us!
