Happy New Year! As we usher in 2017, there’s a lot of news to share about the upcoming year’s events for the ILA Women and Leadership Affinity Group (WLAG). With a global reach and vision, the WLAG provides information, resources, publishing, and networking opportunities for scholars who study and conduct research on the subject of women and leadership, and for practitioners who offer development and coaching programs and services that help women move into leadership or strengthen their leadership ability.

Cover for Theorizing Women & LeadershipThe WLAG is led by a 14-member Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Check out the list to the right that introduces the six new and eight returning members of the ELT. We welcome our new, amazing, and accomplished members and look forward to benefiting from their wisdom, creativity, and energy. Congratulations to Joanne Barnes for being selected as WLAG Chair-elect for 2018, and a hearty thank you to Sherylle Tan for her work as Chair in 2016. We also share much gratitude for the three members who rotated off the ELT at the end of 2016, each after serving for six years and contributing uncountable sums of hard work, energy, and passion to the growth and success of the WLAG — thank you deeply Susan Madsen, Karen Longman, and Melissa Mahan!

Picture of Sherylle Tan handing out purple ribbons at the WLAG information booth at ILA 2016 Although it may seem a long time from now, the 2017 ILA Global Conference Leadership in Turbulent Times will be upon us quicker than you think. The WLAG hopes to see you in Brussels, Belgium from October 12-15. We encourage you to submit a proposal — due by February 1st — and be sure to plan to attend all of the special WLAG events and sessions at the conference. At the recent 2016 global conference in Atlanta, we were pleased to see so many members taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the WLAG for networking, learning about women and leadership, sharing ideas, fostering new collaborations, and enjoying colleagues. We hope you had a chance to stop in at our welcome table, engage in the various sessions focused on women and leadership, join us for our “Purple Friday” luncheon, and pontificate over the post-luncheon discussion with Barbara Kellerman, Deborah Rhode, and Susan Madsen. More great things to come in Brussels!
